No matter the occasion we are on fleek! Let us not mention the time spent to arch those eyebrows to ensure they’re equally etched, to execute that flawless look. Then we start to get the hair slaying! Brazilian or Peruvian straight or wavy with a touch of red. With that perfect Christian Louboutin heels and Gucci outfit to complement.

Males are no different when they’re making a fashion statement with the most expensive perfumes on the market or those gorgeous Brogue shoes.

When he or she strolls by, the world sees an employee of a Fortune 500 corporation, loving husband or wife with the compliment of an all inclusive vacation yearly. But in reality, life is the opposite.

What does the mirror reflect after we shed ourselves of the makeup and the expensive fashion apparels?

Don’t get me wrong we must take the time to look fabulous, being unkempt is not an option. But it is also important that we address the underlying issues that we face as individuals. We can no longer hide the abuse, scars, and depression that we face daily.

I have always convinced myself that I am in full control, but months later I am just left with additional baggage. Can we reach a place within ourselves to address the issues head on rather than covering them up?

Each day I am growing stronger than before; it’s not that my situation has changed drastically. I have only found someone who cares much more than I even care for myself. God. My Jesus. My Comforter. My Healer. My Father. My Friend.

1 Peter 5:7 declares that we must  “cast all your care upon him; for he cares for you”. Psalm 103:13-14 says “Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust”.

Let’s start channeling these burdens and sorrows to a higher power. God is not concerned if we go to church or not he just wants to build a relationship with us;  so let the rest fall into place. Let’s take a few minutes and have a conversation with him locked away and speak with him.

“God is able to do just what He said He would do
He’s gonna fulfill every promise to you
Don’t give up on God, cause He won’t give up on you
He’s able”  Deitrick Haddon
